In the bleakness of Kansas Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz desperately asks her dog “Some place where there isn’t any trouble. Do you suppose there is such a place, Toto?”
As a young child I too longed for a place of serenity…a place without trouble…. ‘There must be. It’s not a place you can get to by a boat, or a train. It’s far, far away. Behind the moon, beyond the rain…’
In Chapter 1 of my book The Grace of a Nightingale I describe how….
‘I have a faint memory of playing in yellow cornfields at the end of our back garden. I would make dens there, peaceful, quiet retreats where the secret invisible beauty of birdsong brought an atmosphere of hope and calm. As I nestled in the safe shelter of high, sweet-smelling golden stalks, I daydreamed about living in a faraway place surrounded by green hills, forests, silver flowing streams and colourful wildlife.’
Dreams that you dare to dream really do come true…..
